Want it for you. Want it for others. Make it happen.

“You can’t have your dessert until Claire finishes her supper.”

Ella gave her mom a quick look. Her face said everything.

She found the nearest barstool, dragged it next to Claire’s high chair, hoisted herself up, and stared directly at Claire. She watched her eat, one bite at a time. At one point, she even picked up a spoon and tried to make her eat faster.

At two-years old, they both wanted dessert. Ella, it seemed, wanted it more. She knew that helping her young cousin was going to make the reward come faster.

Watching them, I wondered if the desire for eternal life is any different. Both had the desire. Both were working for the goal. However, one realized that helping the other one would help both of them to arrive at the reward more quickly.

Thank You for a small insight into the priestly life. The reward is simply You:

Want it for you. Want it for others. Make it happen.
